This city has caught up with the times and many of the shops remain open every day. The nightclubs are trendy and exciting places to be and they dont close early. Part of the reason for the love of the water is the Waitemata Harbour. It is a gorgeous place and the name literally means, sea of sparkling waters which it is. The area underwent major redeveloping in 2000 after it took part in the Americas Cup. This regatta was a popular event and helped spur the redevelopment.
